Through the generosity of the T. Boone Pickens Foundation, the T. Boone Pickens Leadership Institute is designed to develop and enhance the leadership skills and community awareness of Junior League of Dallas (JLD) members. The T. Boone Pickens Leadership Institute is an intensive 10-month training program accommodating up to 35 JLD members annually. Applicants should have at least three years of active service to the Junior League and be current Active or Sustaining members in good standing. Selected participants will represent a range of backgrounds and leadership experience. Information provided on the application will be kept in strict confidence and reviewed only by the selection committee. Institute participants will: - Meet monthly to develop and maximize executive leadership skills
- Increase self-awareness through assessments and evaluations and peer group discussion
- Receive training in leadership from regional experts
- Have access to community leaders across all Junior League issue areas for in-depth discussions
- Gain competencies and improve skill sets applicable to personal, community and career growth
- Garner leadership skills to mentor the next generation of leaders
- Plan and participate in a community service project 'paying forward' the lessons learned throughout the year
- Build strong relationships with fellow participants challenging status quo and preconceived notions of the definition of 'leadership'
- Upon graduation, become a T. Boone Pickens Leadership Institute Alumni and gain access to all alumni networking events and communications.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS The T. Boone Pickens Leadership Institute requires a significant commitment of time and energy. Participation involves an overnight Orientation Retreat in September, one half-day session per month from October to May, homework assignments for each of the sessions and participation in a class project. TUITION If admitted to the T. Boone Pickens Leadership Institute Advanced Track, a nonrefundable tuition fee of $250 is required and must be paid by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013. Scholarship funds are available to qualified applicants, and requests for scholarships will be confidential. Please explain why you should be considered for a scholarship. |
